History

History of the FIRM

Established on 1 January 1950 by Dr iur Albrecht Schackow (*19.10.1907 †26.3.1994) and Dr iur Fritz Hobelmann (*17.4.1908 †27.6.2003), the firm has had its office at Domshof right in the heart of Bremen since 1953.

The firm quickly developed into one of the leading law firms in Northern Germany in the areas of maritime law as well as general contract and commercial law, while at the same time always offering professional notarial services.

The Rostock office was opened in 1991 to cater locally for the wide-ranging needs and requirements of clients, who had expanded their activities after the German reunification to include Bremen’s partner city of Rostock.

Similar considerations led to the opening of an office in Hamburg in 1998, which has experienced significant growth momentum since that time.

Registered as a professional partnership (Partnerschaftsgesellschaft) in 1996, Dr. Schackow & Partner Rechtsanwälte has been developing “under its own steam” and will continue to do so in the future in the three Hanseatic cities it calls home:
Steeped in tradition, but open to the challenges of the present and the future.
